There is hope for a cheaper cheaper Premium Motor Spirit (PM), otherwise known as petrol, in the midst of economic hardship in Nigeria, as indications emerged that the product may sell for between N857 and N865 per litre after the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) starts lifting the product from Dangote Refinery today. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior and chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), has revealed that CDCFIB has approved the promotion of over 20,000 officers across its paramilitary agencies for 2024. Olufemi Soneye, the Spokesperson of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), has confirmed the arrival of 300 trucks belonging to the corporation to the Dangote Refinery. The NNPC spokesperson, in a video on his X handle on Saturday, said the trucks were arriving in preparation for the loading of petrol on Sunday. “NNPC Ltd. trucks are arriving at the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, September 15, 2024. “By the end of today, at least 300 trucks will be stationed at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry,” Soneye confirmed.
States in Nigeria have been charged to deepen the energy transition of the current administration in the country by investing, particularly, in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure. Students of the University of Benin have been trapped in a collapsed building in Ekosodin Street, Benin City. The one storey building carved in on Saturday morning during an early morning downpour that made the area difficult to access. Ekosodin borders the University of Benin and has a huge student population as those who cannot get accommodation in the school opt to live in the area.
