Following poor maintenance of police barracks which has led to wear and tear of so many barracks in the country with attendant imminent collapse, the Lagos State Government has raised alarm on imminent collapsed of a police barrack, Mopol 20 Barracks, located at Onigbongbo in the Ikeja area of the state. Consequently, the state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has concluded plans to start emergency evacuation and demolition of the old Block 3 part of the barracks. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has delivered sensitive materials that will be used for Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State. The materials, according to a tweet on its X handle, arrived Benin Airport earlier on Wednesday. “Sensitive materials for the Edo State Governorship election, holding on Saturday 21st September 2024, arrived at Benin Airport earlier today”, the commission tweeted. After a long wait, former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has decided and subsequently honoured the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A statement by Yahaya Bello Media Office, signed by the Director, Ohiare Michael, noted that the former governor was accompanied to the EFCC headquarters by high profile Nigerians. The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has said that the males in Nigeria are getting more infected with the dreaded Monkey Pox (Mpox) than females. This is according to statistical figures NCDC posted on its website. According to the figures obtained, 67 percent of Mpox cases recorded since January 2024 have been in males. The Federal Government has alleged that some Nigerians are the ones giving the country a bad name abroad.
