A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has declared the seats of the 25 lawmakers, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, vacant pending the determination of a suit before it. A four-story building collapsed on Lagos Island on Thursday, trapping an unknown number of people. The incident occurred at Iga Iduganran, near the Oba of Lagos’ palace. The Defence Headquarters says troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), a military onslaught against oil thieves in the Niger Delta region, seized 4,124, 970 litres of stolen crude in May. It said the troops also recovered, from oil thieves, 793,796 litres of diesel and 4,480 litres petrol. The Federal Government has disbursed a total sum of N20.11bn to 402,283 beneficiaries of the N50,000 Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme. The beneficiaries selected from the 774 local government areas received a direct payment to their bank accounts via their Bank Verification Number. The Naira yesterday appreciated in the parallel market to N1,375 per dollar from N1,500 per dollar on Tuesday. But the Naira was depreciated to N1,339.33 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM rose to N1,329.65 per dollar from N1,173.88 per dollar on Tuesday, indicating N155.77 depreciation for the naira. Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NAFEM rates narrowed to N45.35 per dollar from N326.12 per dollar on Tuesday.
