By Gboyega Akosile There is no gain saying that God in His infinite wisdom does not make mistakes – I know that most of the widely accepted religions, in the world, Islam and Christianity, hold strongly to this belief. He does as He pleases Himself in the affairs of man, with absolute precision. This can be said of those that God has chosen and used to run the affairs of men in the world. From the days of prophets, Kings, Queens and rulers up to the present day leaders, we believe that there is a hand of God in their…
The Nigerian Army has denied reports that it was recruiting Islamic fundamentalists and jihadists into the military. The denial was made in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, and obtained by SaharaReporters on Tuesday. This comes as a Dutch think tank, Clingendael Institute, said jihadi fighters from the Sahel region had crossed into Nigeria through the Benin Republic border. The organisation in a report last Wednesday stated that the extremists had settled in Kainji Lake National Park in Niger and Kebbi states, adding that banditry was re-emerging in zones controlled by a militant jihadist organisation in…
France’s three main political camps were set to go head-to-head Tuesday in a key TV debate as voters prepared for the most polarising election in decades and President Emmanuel Macron warned of “civil war”. The rhetoric has reached fever pitch ahead of Sunday’s first round of voting in the parliamentary elections, with the far-right National Rally polling in first place. Tuesday night’s debate will pit Prime Minister Gabriel Attal of Macron’s centrist Renaissance party against RN president Jordan Bardella and Manuel Bompard of France Unbowed, representing a left-wing alliance that is also besting Macron’s side in the polls. At just…
Candidates seeking admission into the Lagos State University, LASU, must score at least 195 marks in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, to stand any chance of being considered for admission. This is because the university has established that as the cutoff point for its admission process. The same was what the university pegged its cut-off at last year. Admission to the university this year may be challenging because it ranked as the third-most subscribed university in this year’s UTME. Some attribute this to the lower fee regime in the university compared to some state and federal universities. Last…
A 47-year-old man, Emmanuel Chukwuma, has been arrested by the Lagos State police for stabbing his 45-year-old girlfriend, Bosede Adefehinti, to death on 7th Avenue, Festac. Findings revealed that although they had no child together, the man had a child elsewhere. He said, “Yesterday around 2:30 pm, Oliver stabbed his girlfriend, and after stabbing her,…

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, yesterday, declared that it will take decades for the north-west to be free from the menacing security challenge.
