The Federal High Court in Abuja in a suit brought before Justice Emeka Nwite has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Julius Abure as the substantive Chairman of the Labour Party. Justice Nwite on Tuesday delivered the ruling validating the Abure-led leadership of the party. Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State has said the issue between him and former Governor Nyesom Wike is about power and authority, saying there is no understanding between him and the FCT Minister that he hadn’t kept. A father of nine children, identified simply as Mr Charles, has reportedly committed suicide in the Jeddo community of Delta State. It has been gathered that the gory incident occurred in the early hours of Monday. The man allegedly took his own life after drinking an insecticide. The Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of 21,924 bags of rice to various indigent groups in Katsina State. Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the Northwest representative of the Presidential Committee on Food Security, flagged off the event at the Government House’ People’s Square in Katsina on Sunday. The hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force has said it was not ready to engage in media with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. The police, however, faulted the allegations by the governor and said they were only conforming to a court order barring the force from participating in the LGA elections. The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement also debunked the “prevailing falsehood of partisanship circulating in the media”.
