The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to reverse the recent increase in petrol prices, pending the outcome of a court case challenging the company’s authority to raise prices. Last month, SERAP filed a lawsuit against the president and NNPCL over their failure to reverse what it describes as an unlawful hike in petrol prices. Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, has revealed a plan by the Federal Government to effect a major shift in the sharing of funds from the Federation Account Allocation Committer (FAAC). National Assembly workers union, under the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), have  denied allegation of misappropriating N3billion union funds leveled against them. A member of PASAN, Yusuf Abiola, had at a press conference on Monday in Abuja, accused the union executive of misappropriating the amount. Lebanon’s health ministry has confirmed Israeli strikes on two villages, Saturday, one north of Beirut and another to the south, killed at least nine people. The ministry in a statement said an Israeli enemy strike on Maaysra, a Shiite Muslim majority village in a mostly Christian mountain area north of Beirut, killed five people and wounded 14 others. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that unknown gunmen killed a crew member of broadcast outlet, SuperSports in Anambra alongside a police officer. NFF said the deceased were travelling to cover the Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifiers against Libya.
