The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to instruct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to reverse the recent increase in petrol prices, pending the outcome of a court case challenging the company’s authority to raise prices. Last month, SERAP filed a lawsuit against the president and NNPCL over their failure to reverse what it describes as an unlawful hike in petrol prices. Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, has revealed a plan by the Federal Government to effect a major shift in the sharing of funds from the Federation Account Allocation Committer (FAAC). Lebanon’s health ministry has confirmed Israeli strikes on two villages, Saturday, one north of Beirut and another to the south, killed at least nine people.
