President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday night departed Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil, where he is scheduled to begin a state visit on Sunday, August 24. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President embarked on the ultra-long-haul flight to Brasilia with a scheduled stopover in Los Angeles, United States, before proceeding to the Brazilian capital. Tinubu had arrived in Japan on August 18 as part of a two-nation working tour that began with his departure from Abuja on August 15. His itinerary included a stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Yokohama.

The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit over the brutal assault and public stripping of a female corps member, Miss Jennifer Elobor. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has mandated that all mobile phones be switched off during flight take-off and landing. The development was announced on Tuesday by the Director General of Authority, Capt. Chris Najomo, while addressing stakeholders in a meeting themed  “National Civil Aviation Security Committee Meeting” in Abuja. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said the structural rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State will cost about ₦3.6 trillion, warning that extensive underwater damage threatens the country’s busiest bridge. An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday discharged Miss Comfort Emmanson of charges bordering on unruly behaviour and assaulting the flight crew aboard an Ibom Air aircraft from Uyo to Lagos on Monday. Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge against Emmason after the police prosecution team withdrew the case.
