The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the federal government to raise the retirement age for all civil servants to 65 years or 40 years of service, aligning with conditions already granted to select sectors. The National Judicial Council (NJC) has suspended three Judges for one year without pay. The affected judges are Justice Jane E. Inyang of the Court of Appeal, Uyo Division; Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, and Justice Aminu Baffa Aliyu of the Federal High Court in Zamfara State. The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, yesterday said Nigerians know that the commission was not established for political vendetta and has not been playing politics its operations. WhatsApp has announced that it has taken steps to stay and appeal the ruling by Nigeria’s Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal upholding a $220 million fine imposed by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). In a statement issued on Saturday, the company expressed displeasure with the decision of the tribunal.
