The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, have reached an agreement to re-strategise and come up with a more mutually-beneficial Memorandum of Understanding, MoU to strengthen the fight against economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption. The body of the late Senate President, Joseph Wayas, has arrived in Nigeria after about three years since his death. Wayas, who was the Senate President between October 1, 1979 and December 31, 1983, died in a London hospital on November 30, 2021, at the age of 80 after a protracted illness. The Joint Action Committee, JAC, of the non-teaching staff unions in the universities on Tuesday appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene on payment of the withheld four months salaries. The Senate on Wednesday, July 10, suspended its legislative activities in honour of Hon Olaide Adewale Akinremi representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo state. Akinremi was said to have passed on in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness according to a statement by the spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Akin Rotimi. The Senate upon resumption of plenary announced the demise of Akinremi and observed a minute silence in his honour. A two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Musiliudeen Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban, is dead.
