President Joe Biden and former US president, Barack Obama have condemned in strong terms the violence that broke out at the rally of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. Two people have died after a gunman opened fire at Trump during his rally in Pennsylvania – with the former president also suffering a bullet wound to his ear. The US Secret Service confirmed a suspected gunman fired “multiple shots” toward the stage from what they described as an “elevated position outside of the rally venue”. Journalists, Families In Kaduna Released After Seven Days In Captivity
Two journalists from Kaduna, Abdulgafar Alabelewe of The Nation and AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint Newspaper, along with their wives and children, were freed by their captors after spending seven days in captivity. They were abducted by armed individuals in the Dahono Community of the Millennium City area on Saturday night. Alabelewe serves as the chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kaduna State. President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Idris Ajimobi as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development (Office of the President). The appointment follows the recent inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms and the establishment of a new Ministry of Livestock Development. The President seeks to harness and develop Nigeria’s agricultural potential, including the animal husbandry ecosystem, to spur sustainable economic growth, create industries and jobs, and eradicate violent conflicts between farmers and herders over time. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Olufemi Adekanmbi as the new Project Coordinator for the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP). Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has declared three days of mourning in response to the tragic loss of lives and injuries sustained by teachers and students of Saints Academy, Jos following the school building collapse. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government confirmed 22 persons dead and 154 injured in the collapse that took place on Friday morning. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has debunked rumours in the media claiming that the Federal Executive Council (FEC), stepped down inherited road projects.
