The organizers of the 5th edition of the 2024 African Illustrious Son Award announced that 37 people received various awards at the recently concluded award night held at Oriental Hotel, Lagos. According to one of the organizers, Ralph Chidozie, a total of 37 awards were handed out, with Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State being named Governor of the Year. “This quarter’s award is for Nigerians who have done exceedingly well. Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has hosted representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group in a bid to attract investments aimed at revitalizing the state’s industrial sector. The meeting was led by Dan Croft, Regional Industry Manager for Infrastructure in Central Africa and Anglophone West Africa. Brig Gen Harold Udokwere rtd was reportedly attacked in the early hours of Saturday, June 22nd 2024 at home in Abuja. Sources said suspected armed robbers attacked the General’s house at approximately 3 am located at No 1 Sanga Street Sunshine homes by Kabusa Junction at Lokogoma Abuja. The Lagos State Police Command has detained two police officers who went on an illegal duty, in which a civilian lost his life. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Saturday. Hundeyin said that the two officers, whose names and ranks were not given, were members of the State Taskforce. He said that the officers went on the illegal operation on Wednesday, in the company of some civilians. The Rivers state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sacked the chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, RSTRC and paramount ruler of Emohua local government area, Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse for not putting his (governor) picture and that of his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, in the 2024 calendar. The Federal Government has denied the report-making round that the Binance Executive, Tigran Gambaryan is being held in unsavoury prison conditions in Nigeria, and his health is deteriorating.
