Afrobeats singer Oxlade has extended a helping hand to a woman who captured the nation’s attention during the #EndBadGovernance protests. The woman carried an empty pot to symbolise her struggle with hunger. Oxlade took to X to share a photo of the woman and offer N500,000 in financial assistance. He wrote: “Someone please help me find this woman, I’ve got 500k for her,” he wrote. Efforts are underway to locate the woman and connect her with Oxlade’s offer.

Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, has announced an agreement with his Danish counterpart, Tomas Anker Christensen, on a framework for monitoring climate action programs in real-time. Ngelale disclosed this in an update he provided on the virtual meeting, held in Geneva, outlined President Bola Tinubu’s green industrial vision and Nigeria’s critical climate initiatives. Ashraf Adam, the son of Muhammadu Sanusi II, the reinstated Emir of Kano, married Sultana, the daughter of Bauchi senator Suleiman Nazif, on Friday in an extravagant ceremony. Police authorities have fired tear gas at protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja in a bid to disperse the demonstrators who had converged to press on with their demands. The protesters, lesser than the number witnessed the previous days, had converged at the facility. But after some hours, police officers fired tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters. Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has alleged that 95 per cent of the youths that participated in Thursday’s violent protests in Maiduguri were children under 14 years. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zulum made this known in a broadcast to the people of Borno where he also declared the lifting of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state. The locker Kobe Bryant used for the majority of his legendary NBA career sold for $2.9 million on Friday in New York, as part of an auction of rare sports memorabilia at Sotheby’s. The price for the Staples Center locker, which Bryant used while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, nearly doubled the $1.5 million it was estimated to fetch. Bryant, an 18-time NBA All-Star guard, was killed in a 2020 helicopter crash at age 41. He spent his entire NBA career from 1996-2016 with the Lakers. The Minister of Sports Development John Enoh has again raised questions about Favour Ofili’s omission for the 2024 Olympics, saying officials of the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) have not slept since the discovery.
