The Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Alkali, said that the government has begun the conversion of railway locomotive engines from diesel to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in a statement on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Aishetu Ndayako, congratulated Nigerians on the celebration. President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). The President, as stated by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale has also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member of the Commission. The federal government on June 10, called for the harmonization of the National Identification Number (NIN) and the Tax Identification Number (TIN) to facilitate access to information and improve taxable income for the government. The minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the call when the Secretary of the Joint Tax Board (JTB), Olusegun Adesokan, visited him in his office. The Rivers state government has described the report that a state High Court sitting in Port Harcourt delivered a judgment declaring the 27 lawmakers led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as misleading and false. A military aircraft carrying Malawi’s vice president Saulos Chilima has been reported missing after it failed to make a landing Monday morning, the government said. “All efforts by aviation authorities to make contact with the aircraft since it went off the radar have failed thus far,” the government said in a statement. The plane, which took off just after 9:00 am local time (0700 GMT), was carrying 51-year-old Chilima and nine others.
