The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has charged the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore with false publication and forgery. In a three-count charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/374/2025 filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the IGP accused Sowore of among others, making false publication about the police on his media platforms and forging a police signal. A United States District Court has sentenced the Apetu of Ipetumodu in Osun State, Oba Joseph Oloyede, to 56 months in prison over his involvement in a multimillion-dollar COVID-19 relief fund fraud. According to a statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, the sentence was delivered on Tuesday, August 26, by U.S. District Judge Christopher A. Boyko. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Miss Evelyn Osagie, Assistant Editor at The Nation newspaper, describing her death as a painful loss to journalism and the nation’s cultural community. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, has stated that he will not respond to the ultimatum given by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade. Oba Ogunwusi was issued a 48-hour ultimatum by the Alaafin over a recent chieftaincy title conferred by the Ooni on an Ibadan-based businessman.
