The daughters of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance after revealing that their father is battling stage-four cancer.

Lima and Kira Taiwo made separate emotional appeals on Instagram, asking Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help their father access further medical care. The daughters said hospitals had reportedly refused to continue treating the 66-year-old actor, who they said was diagnosed with stage-four cancer.

In a video shared on Instagram, Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and appealed to anyone with connections to a hospital or medical professional willing to take on his case.

“He has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance.”

She said the family only became aware of the seriousness of his condition about three weeks ago, noting that his appearance had not suggested the severity of his

“We didn’t even know until like three weeks ago.”

Lima stressed that the family was not asking for financial donations but was seeking medical assistance that could give the actor another chance.

“We’re not here to ask for money. Nobody’s here to ask for money.”

In a separate video, Kira confirmed that her father’s cancer was at stage four and said a hospital had told the family it could no longer continue chemotherapy.

“He has cancer and is in stage 4. The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again.”

She appealed to cancer specialists, hospitals and anyone capable of providing treatment to contact the family.

“If you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you guys.”

Kira also acknowledged the support of Senator Yayi, whom she said had been assisting the family and footing the medical bills.

She became emotional while describing her father’s condition, saying she had never seen him in such pain and revealing that he had expressed fear of dying.

“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before.”

Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has featured in hundreds of films and remains one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema.

As of the time of the report, the actor’s management and family had not issued a detailed official statement on the specific hospital, diagnosis or type of cancer involved.
