Police have intensified search for Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. Azuka was abducted by gunmen on December 24 along Ugwunapampa Road in Onitsha North Local Government Area of the State. In an update on the incident on Thursday, the Anambra State Police Command said the lawmaker’s vehicle has been recovered. The Command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said that police operatives attached to the Inland Town Division retrieved the abandoned vehicle during an ongoing rescue operation. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has initiated enforcement action against five airlines (two international and three domestic operators) for various violations of Part 19 of the NCAA regulations. The violations include the non-payment of refunds within the stipulated time frame, non-responsiveness to the NCAA’s directives, missing luggage, manhandled luggage, short-landed baggage, delayed and cancelled flights, amongst others. Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the sum of ₦100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state. Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi has regained freedom after meeting his bail conditions. The development was disclosed by politician and activist, Omoyele Sowore. He was arrested earlier in the month for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD. A powerful blast on Tuesday ripped through an explosives plant in northwest Turkey killing 12 people and injuring three others, the local governor said. “According to preliminary information, 12 people died in the explosion” in the Karesi district of Balikesir, Ismail Ustaoglu told the private NTV broadcaster. Footage showed shards of glass and metal scattered outside the plant. The blast took place at 8:25 am (0525 GMT) at a section of the plant, the governor said, adding that that part of the building collapsed. Prosecutors have launched an investigation. AFP
