The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government,  Musa Ikhilor, which detailed the appointments and emphasized the importance of their swift assumption of office.

The statement read, โ€œIt is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has sworn in six commissioners into the State Executive Council.

โ€œThe newly sworn-in commissioners and their portfolios are, Paul Ohonbamu โ€“ Ministry of Information and Communication, Dr. Washington Osifo โ€“ Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu โ€“ Ministry of Education, Lucky Eseigbe โ€“ Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Andrew Ijegbai โ€“ Ministry of Mining,, Marie Olabisi-Idaomi โ€“ Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.โ€

โ€œAll commissioners are expected to resume at their various ministries with immediate effect.โ€

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City,  Okpebholo charged the new executives to work diligently to deliver development across the state.

He noted that his administration was determined to fast-track progress and fulfill promises made to Edo citizens.

The governor said, โ€œTo the newly appointed executives, congratulations on your appointment.

โ€œThis appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence.โ€

Okpebholo highlighted the skills and competencies of the appointees, stressing that their selection reflects his administrationโ€™s commitment to good governance, efficient service delivery, and the overall well-being of the people.

โ€œYou have been chosen because of your skills and the trust we have in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of our state,โ€ he said.

The governor urged the commissioners to prioritise teamwork and remain focused on initiatives that would enhance the lives of Edo residents.

โ€œI encourage you to work with a shared sense of purpose, prioritise teamwork, and remain focused on improving the lives of our citizens. Together, we can make Edo State a model of growth and prosperity,โ€ Okpebholo added.
