Nigerian music star, David Adedeji Adeleke, also known as Davido, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday and criticised Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria.”

This comment comes amid Edo State gubernatorial election. Davido, known for being vocal about political issues, expressed concerns over the role of INEC in the election process.

INEC, responsible for overseeing elections in Nigeria, has faced criticism in the past regarding election transparency. However, this bold statement from a high-profile celebrity like Davido has sparked widespread reactions online, with many people sharing their opinions on the matter.

Following his post, netizens quickly reacted, with many sharing mixed opinions. Some users supported Davido’s view, agreeing that INEC has been at the center of many election controversies. One user said, “This is the same way they rigged the presidential election. “

Others, however, disagreed, defending INEC’s efforts to improve the election process. A netizen commented, “Same INEC that declared your uncle?? My guy enter the studio to release another jam, INEC may not be perfect, but calling them dangerous is a bit too much.”

Some users also questioned Davido’s motive, asking if his statement was politically motivated. “Davido always gets involved when it’s close to election season, what’s his agenda?” one netizen asked.

As the debate continues online, all eyes are on INEC and the Edo election, with people waiting to see how the situation will unfold. So far, INEC has not responded to Davido’s comments.
