Emergency Declaration: Tinubu Was Partisan In Handling Rivers Crisis – Olaleye

Frontline journalist and public affairs analyst, Olawale Olaleye on Tuesday says it was wrong for President Bola Tinubu to suspend Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara while keeping the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike in office.
Reacting to the state of emergency declaration on Rivers by the president, Olaleye, a Deputy Editor with ThisDay said the president has clearly shown that he was an interested party in the crisis.
He wrote “President Tinubu suspended an elected governor and his deputy but kept an appointee and critical party to the crisis in Rivers State.
“What more does anyone need to conclude that the president is not just an interested party in the crisis in the state but has clearly taken a side? Maybe evident inexperience in national politics and unbriddled excessive politics have coloured the president’s judgment in running the affairs of Nigeria”.
“All of you political elite – without excusing anyone – are consciously and brazenly partaking in the gradual killing of democracy.  When it eventually dies, do not pretend and start wailing and mourning in deceit. You would have simply achieved your aims. Period!”
