If My Actions Were Disrespectful To Governor Sanwo-Olu, It Wasn’t Deliberate – Obasa

Disputed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa on Thursday says he has no reason to be disrespectful to the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Obasa, who was impeached on January 13 stormed the Assembly complex today and declared that he has resumed as the Speaker. He also claimed that Mojisola Meranda, the former deputy speaker who was appointed to replace him as speaker has resigned.

Speaking on Channels Television on some allegations leveled against him, including being disrespectful to Governor Sanwo-Olu, especially during last year’s budget presentation where he allegedly kept the governor waiting for over four hours, Obasa said he has deep respect for Sanwo-Olu as the party leader in Lagos State.

He said if any of his actions were perceived to be disrespectful towards the governor, it was done unconsciously.

“Number one, It is not a sin to have ambition, let’s correct that. Number two, the governor is my brother, he is my leader, he is my everything”.

“There is no reason for me to disrespect him. If I have taken steps or an action that seems like disrespecting him, that may probably have happened unconsciously”.

“So, there is no need to do that. The governor is number one in our state. We have to respect him and he is my brother. So, there is nothing of such”.
