Former presidential candidate and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore has described Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a failure whose impact is not felt in any sector of governance in the state.

Speaking as a guest on News Central TV, Sowore said when he joined others to liberate the state from the grip of the late Rotimi Akeredolu’s family, their expectation was that Aiyedatiwa will hit the ground running but he has been clueless in piloting the affairs of the state.

I have a very sad story to tell about my state, Ondo state because even before the current governor (Lucky Aiyedatiwa) won his last election or selection, we were the ones who fought the former Ondo state governor who is now late when his family tried to hijack power. The expectation was that the new governor, who was then the Acting Governor will hit the ground running”.

The case we have now is that Ondo state is now in state of motion without movement. What I will tell you about security is this, there are over 55 police stations in Ondo state, most of them don’t have patrol vehicles. The criminals in Ondo state are operating in places that they know have no access roads that can get to town. So, it is very easy for kidnappers to get away fast since there is no way to pursue them”.

Sowore also condemned the state government for claiming it is still paying bursary to students, saying the governor should be providing free education for the students of the state.

While accusing the governor of abandoning teachers in the state, the Sahara Reporters publisher claimed he is still paying some teachers in the state, especially in his community, Kiribo.

What Ondo state needs to do is not what the governor is doing. They are talking stories about giving bursaries. We should not be talking about bursary in 2025. Ondo state’s industry is education yet they are talking about bursary as if they are doing anybody a favour. Ondo state should be offering free education, not bursary”.

I attended Community High School in my village, Kiribo. Go and ask how many teachers are there and who is paying them. I am still paying teachers in Ondo state, in my secondary school whenever they are preparing for WAEC. They have abandoned all the schools. There is nothing to be proud of”.

My own younger brother is part of the propaganda they are doing in Ondo State. Tell yourselves the truth, you are not doing well. You cannot have an Ondo state where people are getting kidnapped during daytime. There are no access roads; even when they try to do it, they do a little bit, and the rest is more propaganda. There is nobody who is going to eat propaganda in the state. Tell your governor to hit the ground running”.
