President of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has commended the current leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, over the completion of projects started and abandoned by previous administrations of the commission.

Tinubu gave the commendation yesterday while commissioning the first phase and flaging-off the second phase of Iko-Atabrikang-Akata-Opolom-Okoroutip-Iwouchang Road, in Ibeno local government area of Akwa Ibom state.

The President who was represented by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio congratulated the NDDC governing Board for being the first since the creation of the commission in the year 2000 to remain united , focused, and commissioning projects that impacts the lives of people of the region directly.

He expressed delight that since the current governing board came on board it has been, undertaking projects that were started and abandoned by previous administrations

His words, “The Managing Director of the NDDC you are showing direction, you are showing focus. You have done well in commissioning of projects across the region.This is the first time that the NDDC is impacting the lives of the people directly.

“You have roled out the things you are going to do for the youths, and the women. You are undertaking even health programme and others. And under one year in office, you have been able to connect five local governments in Ondo state to the national grid. And today, you have brought us to Ibeno local government.

“The people of Ibeno now have another access road to civilisation. So with the 6.87km, two lane single Carriage way with asphatic surface, 1 No 600m span RC bridge with side drains, the over 20 communities Seperated by the Qua Iboe River in Ibeno clan are now linked up by the 600m Bridge to Eastern Obolo and other places.

“This will facilitate trade, and other economic activities within the road alignment, exchange of ideas and education. Before you can only access this area through the Eket, Esit Eket road.
