Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike remains a bona-fide member of the party.

Speaking with TheScrutinyNG amid claims by some party members that Wike has technically left the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), George said Wike sought the permission of the party stakeholders before accepting ministerial appointment under President Bola Tinubu.

He said if the FCT Minister wants to leave the party, he will announce his intention publicly

“I believe Wike is still a member of the PDP. When he was going for ministerial appointment, he wrote a letter, seeking for permission that he is going for ministerial appointment. If they approved it for him, then it’s okay”.

” We had a top-level meetings in April: the Caucus, the BoT and NEC. The ones that he was a member, he attended it. So, I believe he is still a member of our party. Whenever he is leaving, he will announce it”.

George also appealed to the PDP members to put their individual differences aside and work for the success of the party.

“I am pleading with everybody, all sides for the sake of this country and for the sake of the elders who sacrificed everything for the formation of the PDP. Look at the dedication, commitment and loyalty exhibited perpetually by Papa Alex Ekwueme”.

” The man was the convener of the G-14 meeting. He tried whatever was humanly possible to become Nigeria’s president but he never got it. He did not on account of that pull the party down. He remained loyal and stayed with the party till the end. He remained an elder in the room until he passed away. What is wrong with our people today? The PDP is not a private company or enterprise of anyone. It is Supreme”.

“There is only one way to go. That is, we have to put our personal ambitions aside and work collectively for the party. That is the only way the PDP can bounce back”.
