The state funeral for slain Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been postponed.

The three-day funeral was scheduled to kick off later day, as the joint United States and Israel war on Iran entered its fifth day.

Reports in Iranian state media indicate organisers decided to postpone the ceremony “in anticipation of unprecedented turnout”.

No new date has been announced for the ceremony.

“The farewell ceremony for the martyred Imam has been postponed. The new date will be announced later,” a report broadcast on state television reads.

Khamenei, 86, was killed in US-Israeli strikes over the weekend.
