Lagos Billionaire Kidnappers: Popular Nollywood Actor Linked To Operational Vehicles

A few hours after police took down nine notorious kidnappers in Lagos, it was revealed that a popular Nollywood actor and producer based in Port Harcourt, identified as Ode, was among those killed.

Despite skepticism, it has been confirmed that the actor was one of the kidnappers shot by the Commissioner of Police Special Squad in the Ladipo area of Lagos. Detectives are conducting extensive investigations to identify the nine kidnappers encountered at the Ladipo auto spare parts market, where they attempted to abduct a wealthy businessman.

During the investigation, police recovered four mobile phones and other personal items from the deceased kidnappers. They discovered that two vehicles used by the kidnappers—a Lexus 350 Jeep and a 4 Runner Jeep—were registered in the actor’s name. Additionally, the mobile phones used in their operations were also registered to him but contained pictures of unidentified men and false addresses.

Detectives have been working to uncover the true identities of the remaining gang members. They have identified one of them as a twin, with the other having fled after learning of his brother’s death. A local resident provided information on the gang members, recognizing them from a recent event.

Efforts to capture a fleeing gang member have extended to a northern city, and authorities are monitoring a known hideout in Lagos for further leads. One bar owner, a frequented spot of the kidnappers, has been arrested and is assisting the police.

The kidnappers had evaded capture for so long by using military uniforms, which allowed them to pass through police checkpoints. These uniforms were among the items recovered from their vehicles.

Following the operation, the Ladipo market executive members visited the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Adegoke Fayoade, to commend the police and present a certificate of commendation. They promised continued cooperation in fighting crime. Additionally, local businesses reported a surge in activity as customers, previously deterred by safety concerns, returned to nightlife activities.
