The Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has approved ₦214.15m for the reconstruction of the official residence of the state Head of Service. The project, which has been abandoned for years, is expected to be completed within six months.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, following the 14th State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday.

According to Oyelade, the project underscores the administration’s commitment to the civil service and its leadership.

He explained that the dilapidated quarters, which had been uninhabitable for years, would be transformed into a modern and conducive residence befitting the rejuvenation of the civil and public service in the state.

“The neglected official quarters of the Head of Service will signpost the respect this administration has, not only for the civil service but for its leadership,” Oyelade said.

The council also approved enhancements to the Iwo Road Roundabout and expanded the scope of ongoing reconstruction at the Adegbayi Junction-Bus Terminal-Iwo Road Interchange along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway.

Oyelade noted that the expansion aims to address persistent traffic congestion during peak hours and mitigate flooding at the roundabout during rainfall.

The council also approved a statewide free medical mission targeting all 33 local government areas.

The initiative aims to reduce mortality from communicable diseases and will include free surgeries, eye care services, cervical cancer screening, and health education.

“The medical mission is part of efforts to improve healthcare access and reduce mortality rates across the state,” the commissioner added.
