Sexual Allegations: Akpabio Should Stand Down To Defend Himself  – Ologbondiyan

Immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has expressed concern over developments in the 10th Senate under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio.

In a post on his official social media handles, Ologbondiyan said there is a need for Akpabio to stand down and defend himself of the sexual allegation leveled against him.

“One is not afraid to say that this Senate drips off the respect, values, and maturity that the highest law making body has earned over the years.

This is not just for the lack of discretion of the Senate President in tagging some of his colleagues as “Court Ordered Senators” or some of the recurrent actions of his that has brought the institution of the Senate to public ridicule.

Never, in the history of the Senate, has a presiding officer been dragged to court over alleged sexual abuse by his own supposedly distinguished colleague.

Even for less serious issues, Senate Presidents had stood down from the chair to protect the integrity of the Senate and defend themselves.

This current situation must, therefore, not be swept under the Chamber’s red carpet.

Senator Akpabio should save whatever is left of the battered image of the Senate by standing down to face his N100 Billion Sexual Harrasment court matters”.
