Taiwo Awoniyi, the Super Eagles striker, is in an induced coma following emergency surgery, according to the Daily Mail.

Awoniyi was hurt in the last minutes of Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 Premier League match with Leicester City on Sunday.

However, new sources indicate the damage might have been fatal if not treated with a “complex” medical procedure.

Awoniyi received treatment on the pitch after colliding with a post while attempting to score a goal.

He attempted to be courageous and play on, but was compelled to leave after a few minutes.
