Former presidential media aide, Reuben Abati on Monday says former president Muhammadu Buhari will be laughing in Daura now having seen how his successor, President Bola Tinubu and his group of acolytes in the South-West have mismanaged the Nigerian economy.
According to him, Yorubas were blaming Buhari during his eight years as president but they have worsen the situation since coming to power in May 2023.
Abati now an anchor with Arise Television said the current situation in the country whereby Nigerians cannot afford fuel, energy and battling with a worsening economy is an embarrassment to the people of the South-West who have always claimed that they are experts when it comes to management of the economy.

“Nigerians now have been thrown into energy poverty. Yesterday, I was on a ThisDay live programme with the Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir and he was saying that the most affected sector of the economy are the SMEs. This SMEs operate at the level of connection with the people”.

“Most SMEs are having to shut down because they don’t have access to petrol, electricity. Diesel is expensive. So, you find a situation whereby the same people who were told ‘Elo fokan bale’ have been crippled”.
“We now found ourselves, unfortunately in a situation whereby former president Muhammadu Buhari now in his Daura village in Katsina will be laughing. He will say ‘Okay, I think these Yoruba people say they know the economy. Now, the economy is now in their hands but they have taken it down and mismanaged it”.
“What we are facing is a gross embarrassment in terms of economic management to people who come from the South-West who say people from the South-West are better at managing the economy”.
