At least five people have been killed in a suspected terrorist attack on Lighitlubang village, in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred late on the night of January 31, 2025, when the assailants stormed the village while the residents slept. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were brutally slaughtered during the assault.
Moses Bankat, a local resident, confirmed the tragedy, telling reporters in Jos, “It happened around midnight. Suspected terrorists entered the village and killed a family of five – a man, his wife, and their child, as well as another couple.”
The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident and assured that security forces had been deployed to the village to ensure peace. He also stated that investigations were underway. “I will gather more information from the DPO once they return from the field,” he said.
The attack has left the community shaken, with many residents expressing fear and anxiety over their safety.
