Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior and chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), has revealed that CDCFIB has approved the promotion of over 20,000 officers across its paramilitary agencies for 2024.

This comes on the heels of a similar exercise in 2023, which saw over 30,000 officers elevated, making it the second consecutive year that the CDCFIB has completed such an exercise within a single calendar year.

The promotion exercise is a clear indication of the board’s commitment to ending career stagnation and ensuring that excellence is recognised and rewarded.

Tunji-Ojo has received praise for his leadership and dedication to reforming Nigeria’s paramilitary services.

Stakeholders, who recognise his efforts, have said it aligns with Tinubu’s broader Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to strengthen key institutions, improve governance and ensure better service delivery across the board.

The minister, in his statement, also emphasised the importance of honouring the commitment to ending career stagnation.

“This is walking the talk of our promise to eliminate career stagnation in our paramilitary agencies, and demonstrating our dedication to recognizing and rewarding excellence,” Tunji-Ojo said.

The consistent promotion of officers under the minister’s leadership has been hailed as a major boost for morale within the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration services, as it provides opportunities for career growth and reinforces a culture of excellence within these critical institutions.

Tunji-Ojo’s efforts to create a more dynamic and effective workforce within the Ministry of Interior are reflective of his commitment to the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda, positioning the nation’s paramilitary agencies to better serve Nigerians.
