Brilliant indigent students from Delta State who are underprivileged can now apply for scholarships through Otemu Educational Foundation (OEF).
The initiative was launched in November 2024 by former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori.
Checks by TheScrutinyNG revealed that the website of the foundation www.otemueducationalfoundation.org is now very active and applications are already being received.
Speaking during the launch, Ibori, who governed Delta State from 1999 to 2007 said the foundation is aimed at transforming the educational landscape for underprivileged students in the region.
According to him, the foundation is committed to supporting bright, talented youth from Delta State who lack the financial resources to pursue their academic aspirations.
Ibori also expressed his deep belief in the transformative power of education, stating that the Otemu Educational Foundation will serve as a vehicle for positive change.
“By investing in these bright young minds, we are not only fostering individual growth but also empowering future leaders who will drive progress in their communities and beyond,” Ibori said.
“The foundation will offer scholarships and resources to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that they have access to the opportunities needed to succeed academically.
Ibori also revealed that the foundation is in the process of developing a world-class, digitally driven system for pre-selection and candidate profiling. This initiative aims to ensure that the students selected for support demonstrate both academic potential and strong character.
“Our goal is to create an environment where every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to quality education and the necessary resources to thrive,” Ibori added.
Ibori called on communities, partners, and donors to support the Otemu Educational Foundation, noting that their collective efforts will create a lasting impact and a brighter, more equitable future for all.
