President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Adewunmi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives and representative for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State. Onanuga passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the late lawmaker as a devoted public servant and a source of inspiration for women in politics. He praised her relentless commitment to her constituency and her passion for a better Nigeria.

“She never stopped serving her constituency, and her dedication will remain unforgettable to all who worked with her,” said Tinubu. “Rep. Onanuga was a true role model for women in politics, proving that with hard work, integrity, and commitment to just causes, women can lead effectively.”

Tinubu also highlighted Onanuga’s significant contributions, including her role as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development during the 9th Assembly and her position as Deputy Chief Whip in the current 10th Assembly.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the President extended heartfelt condolences to Onanuga’s family, loved ones, the Ogun State government, and her constituents. He prayed for strength and comfort for those mourning her loss and for her soul to rest in peace.
