On-air personality, Reuben Abati has questioned the source of the cash donations made by First Lady Remi Tinubu to disaster victims.

While giving his commentary on the What’s Trending segment of Arise TV’s Morning Show on Thursday, February 6, Abati, while applauding her generosity, also sought clarity on the source of her funds.

He also highlighted the geographical bias concerns raised over her recent ₦100 million donation to victims of a tanker explosion in Niger State, noting that victims of a similar disaster in Enugu remain stranded.

He said in an excerpt of the video; “Mrs Tinubu, yes, we applaud her generosity. But the question to ask is ‘Where is the money coming from’?

Three incidents in one month. What is the guarantee that when the next tanker collapses on that bridge, people will not go and scoop fuel? That is what Nigeria needs to worry about. Transportation. How many people will Mrs. Tinubu give ₦100 million? After their people have died in foreign tanker collapses? Again, there is also a geographical matter to it.”

“The people of Enugu state have also complained that another tanker had an issue at, is it Mile 12 they call it, or last mile, whatever, in Enugu state. They too, they are asking for their own money. But the question is, where is Mrs. Tinubu getting this money from? Yeah, the renewed hope initiative. Who is funding it?”

“Where is this money that keeps coming out? In a remarkable style. Everywhere there is a problem. Mrs. Tinubu comes to the rescue. The people of Enugu are asking for their own.”

Recall Remi Tinubu accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shetima made the donation at the Government House Minna during a private visit to commiserate with the State over the recent tanker explosion in Diko and other disasters that occurred in the State.

She said the donation is to complement what the State government is doing to bring succor to the victims of the disaster.
