Schillaci, better known as ‘Toto’, scored six goals to win the Golden Boot at the 1990 World Cup on home soil. After a long wait, former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has decided and subsequently honoured the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A statement by Yahaya Bello Media Office, signed by the Director, Ohiare Michael, noted that the former governor was accompanied to the EFCC headquarters by high profile Nigerians. The statement, dated 18-09-2024, and made available to Vanguard, was entitled “FORMER GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO HONOURS EFCC’S INVITATION”. It will be recalled that the anti-graft agency had been on the trail of the former governor who has declined subsequent invitations.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has said that the males in Nigeria are getting more infected with the dreaded Monkey Pox (Mpox) than females. This is according to statistical figures NCDC posted on its website. According to the figures obtained, 67 percent of Mpox cases recorded since January 2024 have been in males. A former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd) has challenged the military to end the insecurity and killings in the country. According to him, the military has no excuse not to end insecurity once and for all. The Federal Government has alleged that some Nigerians are the ones giving the country a bad name abroad. The United Nations has supported the victims of the September 10 flooding in Borno State with $6 million. This was announced on Tuesday by Mohammed Fall, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria. He announced that the sum was donated from the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund to support the flood victims. The police in Borno State has announced the rearrest of one of the fleeing inmates, Abubakar Mohammed, who escaped following the September 10 devastating flood that rocked Maiduguri, the state capital, recently, affecting the Nigerian Correctional facility which carved in under the heavy flood.
