The qualifying draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The 48 competing teams will be split into 12 groups of four, with the top two in each group reaching the finals in Morocco. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday abandoned its earlier request for a change in the date for arraignment of former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, from June 13 without informing the defendant’s lawyers. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said the aggregate Value Added Tax (VAT) stood at N1.43 trillion in Q1 2024. This is according to the VAT Q1 2024 Report released in Abuja on Tuesday. The report shows a growth rate of 19.21 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter basis from the N1.20 trillion recorded in Q4 2023. The report also showed that local payments recorded were N663.18 billion, while foreign VAT payments contributed N435.73 billion, while import VAT contributed N332.01 billion in Q1 2024. The Police Command in Katsina State has confirmed the killing of no fewer than 20 people, four police officers and two operatives of the state-owned Community Watch Corps by some suspected bandits.
