The daughter of President Bola Tinubu and Iyaloja-General, Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has successfully mediated a resolution to the dispute between the Lagos State Butchers Association and the National Butchers Union of Nigeria.

The conflict, which had seen the Lagos State chapter, under the leadership of the former state Chairman Alhaji Bamidele Kazeem, attempt to withdraw from the national union, was resolved during a crucial meeting held on Monday. The meeting included the union’s National President, John Adun, and other key stakeholders from both the national and state chapters.

During the meeting, Tinubu-Ojo listened to the various perspectives of the representatives involved and urged them to seek peace. She stated, “Since the state body pledged allegiance to the national body and was inaugurated by the same, the Kazeem-led group should embrace peace and work collaboratively with the national body.”

Emphasizing the need for unity, Tinubu-Ojo cautioned against greed and betrayal among leaders, stressing the importance of swiftly resolving disputes to avoid escalation into violence or public unrest. “Only in an atmosphere of peace can growth occur,” she said, instructing a union member to present relevant sections of the union’s constitution to highlight the necessity for unity.

Furthermore, Tinubu-Ojo underscored the importance of fair distribution of welfare among all members, condemning the alleged practices of favoring only loyalists within the union.

Following the resolution of the crisis, Elder Shola Adetele was appointed as the interim chairman of the Lagos State union by the national body. Expressing his gratitude to the Iyaloja-General, Adetele committed to fostering an inclusive administration that prioritizes the welfare of all members while working closely with the national union.
