Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the immediate dissolution of the Local Government Service Commission as part of his administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in the public service.

In a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the move was described as a key step in Okphebholo’s ongoing reforms aimed at streamlining government operations and improving the performance of public sector institutions across the state.

The governor assured citizens and staff that the dissolution would not disrupt ongoing official activities.

He emphasized his commitment to working closely with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan for restructuring the commission to ensure greater effectiveness.

“This decision aligns with our vision to build a more transparent and efficient public service sector that meets the needs of our people,” Okphebholo said.

He said, “This decision to dissolve the state Local Government Service Commission the became necessary in order to revitalise our Local Government Service Commission and reposition it for more efficient service delivery. By this decision, we aim to eliminate inefficiency and build a more accountable and effective local service structure.

“Edo State Government remains committed to transparent, efficient, and effective public service delivery with the intent of bringing the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

“Updates regarding this decision and upcoming changes in the Local Government Service Commission will be communicated in due course.”
