There are strong indications that the reinstated Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa will not resign his position on Wednesday as speculated.
Credible sources informed our correspondent that Obasa will be allowed to serve out his term while the status quo in that was in existence before his removal will remain.
On Tuesday afternoon, Obasa also had a reconciliatory meeting with his colleagues.
During the meeting held at the complex in Alausa, Ikeja, Obasa solicited the support of his colleagues and asked them to join hands together for the development of the state. He also said he has moved on and will not victimise anyone in the interest of peace.
Also speaking with our correspondent, Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Prince Tajudeen Olusi the GAC is still awaiting the report of the committee headed by Chief Bisi Akande, former Osun state governor.
“There is a committee headed by Chief Akande. The committee has not submitted its report fully. We know that they have worked to the extent that they were able to convince the members to assemble. I know there are understandings between the Akande committee and the parties concerned. Let’s give them some time to fully work out the settlement and implement the various agreements reached”.
On claims by some commentators that the GAC has failed in its role to settle the crisis, Olusi said those saying that are entitled to their opinion.
“People are entitled to their opinion. Management of crisis is a special matter and we have an arrangement in the party at the state and regional level. The federal can also come into the settlement of any crisis. People are trying to dabble into the crisis of Lagos because of its special position and also the home of our president, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. So, that special privilege attracts attention from fellow Nigerians”.
When asked if Obasa will resign as speculated, Olusi said “My position is that is anything is possible”.
