Julius Abure has been summoned by the Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party caretaker committee for alleged corruption, misappropriation of funds, and anti-party activities.
Usman, who spoke at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said Abure has persistently paraded himself as the LP national chairman despite being removed.
According to her, Abure runs the party “like a personal enterprise to pursue selfish ambitions”.
“To address these serious allegations, we have set up a disciplinary panel chaired by Senator Ireti Kingibe, with Peter Ameh as secretary,” she stated.
Speaking further, Usman disclosed that Abure will be probed by the panel over corruption, misappropriation of party funds and anti-party activities.
Abure was also accused of hijacking party structures by refusing to conduct congresses at the ward, local government, state and zonal levels ahead of the national convention.
Usman warned Abure against parading himself as the party leader within 48 hours or face disciplinary action.
“The disciplinary panel has 21 days to conclude its investigation and recommend appropriate sanctions,” she said.
